Client Meeting

The design and layout of my web pages did go according to my plan. I have lost my plan, but I am going to make it again. My homepage looks exactly as how I have drawn it in my plan. I have done a lot of research in the class, I have researched: What is a flood? What to do in case of a flood, how a flood can be caused. I have also researched what has happened to people in recent floods as well as the power of floods. The main Font I used was felt tip, with a blue color. The font looked catchy and it was easy to read. I used blue because I have lots of pictures about the text that I have written, I wanted to put a few videos, but I am still trying to figure out how. I have 4 pages right now, and am going to make my 5th soon. In the Iweb application, there are still stuff I am trying to figure out. For one I am looking for the undo button and looking for how to upload videos. web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. They are derived from the idea of code reuse. Other terms used to describe web widgets include: gadget, badge, module, webjit, capsule, snippet, mini and flake. Web widgets usually but not always use DHTMLJavaScript, or Adobe Flash. Widgets often take the form of on-screen tools (clocks, event countdowns, auction-tickers, stock market tickers, flight arrival information, daily weather etc). Yes I do have an emergency plan, I took all the precautions and watch the news, incase this happens. I am going to make my reference page last, after I have finished my Iweb.

Information conveyed in synchronous communications

Any information can be sent through both types of communication. You can contact someone through msn messenger, and tell them your location. By email, you can write a whole article about important information about your location and your current situation, like where is the tornado, are you trapped somewhere etc.

Synchronous and Asynchronous communications

Synchronous communication are like MSN and Skype which are chatting sites. Like MSN messenger, Skype and yahoo and gmail messenger. Asynchronous communications are non-instant messaging sites. It is like hotmail, yahoo mail and gmail. All the e-mail sites are asynchronous. Asynchronous communications takes a bit of time to find the email while Synchronous find it immediately.

Week 3 task

The two sites I will talk about are fast-cars-uk.com  and HRODC. First of all I will compare the titles of both of them. The fast cars website title stands out more then the HRODC website. These  are the two titles.

These were the two titles, you can see the difference between how they stand out. Also the fast cars website looks much better and stands out more. The HRODC website is extremely boring.
The fast cars website is eye catching and has pictures. The HRODC website has nothing but information. Not eye catching or any pictures.

What hardware and software is required to be able to communicate online?

To communicate online, the hardware needed is computers, linksys wireless connection, Mobiles etc. The one that is needed most to use wi-fi or wireless connection is Linksys. It allows you to use internet and communicate online. You need a wireless connection to access the internet, you can also use skype and msn. This is needed to communicate when disaster strikes.

What information can be created before the emergency?

During a natural disaster you can make precautions before it happens. For example, if there is a hurricane or tornado, you can get underground in a shelter to avoid the disaster. The tornado can't blow away an underground shelter. Even if you do this, you must take supplies like water and food for this as you do not want to be stuck underground without any food or water and starve.

Essential information needed to communicate during a disaster

During a natural disaster, you have to give essential information to the people trying to find you. You have to tell at least where you are. You could tell where you were when the disaster happened, you could say what is infront of you or around your current location. For example you could say, that there are, lot's of trees around you, or there are buildings there. This is important as then the searchers can try and locate you, which leads to saving your life. They will also bring supplies to help you in your current condition

Communications used between disasters of Hurricane Katrina and Asian Tsunami

During the Hurricane Katrina, the telephone lines were down so no could contact anyone. the ham radios really helped here. They found people in the hardest areas using the radio, and also saved stranded flood victims in the Louisiana and Mississippi. Ham Radios communicate using voice, computer, television and morse code. These Ham Radios saved more than 15 lives during the hurricane. The ham radio has already saved hundreds of lives and still continuing to do so.

Communication during a natural disaster

Communication is very important during an emergency like a natural disaster. You can communicate through radio, for example. I there is an avalanche, you can broadcast a message on the radio saying that you need help and help should be on the way. You can also communicate using a computer or laptop. You can look up information on what to do in your current situation. For example, if you are facing a hurricane, you can go on the laptop or computer and search on what to do on in your situation, like how to face the hurricane. You can also use mobiles and also Iphones for example. Some have internet and so does the pocket PC. These are all ways of communicating through a natural disaster. They use internet and help. The only downfall of this would be if the internet is down then you would not have communication. In this case you can use radio or wakie talkie. These are ways to communicate during a natural disaster.
